RYA START

Learn to windsurf

Geared towards the complete beginner, this course takes you through the very basics on one of our land-based simulators before hitting the water to practice tacking, gybing and sailing upwind and downwind. Also covered are setting up your equipment, safety techniques and sailing theory. Instruction takes place over six hours and follows the well-established RYA format. Our aim is that you will gain your Start certificate (a pre-requisite to hiring kit) so in the unlikely event of you experiencing difficulties you will be invited back for more practice.

RYA INTERMEDIATE

Improve your techniques

This intensive one-day course is aimed at windsurfers who have practiced their level 1 techniques and are confident on all points of sailing in light winds. As well as beach starting, improved tacking and gybing we also cover dynamic stance and basic harness technique. This course also introduces you to more high tech equipment, and how to set it up correctly to maximize your speed and enjoyment. Small group sizes and the tried and tested RYA course structure make the level 2 course invaluable to those wanting to sail in stronger winds.

We offer a number of pre-programmed open courses throughout the summer months, in addition to these dates, for groups of 3 or more we are happy to run courses “to order”. Please call the office to reserve your place or enquire about other dates.

Course days generally run from 10.00am to 4.00pm, equipment and wetsuits can be provided if required.
